UICC Member Newsletter - December 2015 - A message from Cary Adams, Chief Executive Officer, UICC

Dear UICC Members,

Welcome to the UICC Member Newsletter rounding off a very enjoyable and successful year for UICC and its members.

As I write this, we have more than 900 members in 155 countries and both numbers continue to grow each month. It is our hope that next year we will pass the 1,000 members mark whilst continuing to work more effectively on behalf of and for all our members.

This year’s Membership Survey gives us comfort that we are improving the service and support we provide to you all – we have made progress in many key areas, since the last survey was conducted in 2013.

Today, 90% of you say that you value the membership of UICC and 78% that we are providing an excellent or very good service. We are exceptionally proud of these results.

Importantly, our partner base continues to grow steadily as well. These are the members, foundations, government agencies and private sector companies which invest in the work UICC undertakes on behalf of its members.

The agenda set out by the Board embraces activities under the headings convening, capacity building and advocacy. In each area, we have made sound progress during 2015. World Cancer Day and the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit were both hugely successful, and preparations for the World Cancer Congress in Paris 2016 are coming along nicely.

As part of our planning for 2016-2018, we have established with the Board that we should focus our efforts on delivering a suite of capacity building services to help our members be “more effective tomorrow than they are today”. We have recruited new staff to deliver this ambition and our outstanding group of partners has already indicated their wish to invest in our new agenda – giving us the ability and the resources to help UICC members around the world...
